Having a business degree gives you many career options. The world of business is a fast-paced and competitive one, and having a degree affords you the opportunity to be a central part of a business organization. Earning your business degree online is a convenient, flexible and cutting edge way to find your dream job or advance in your current career.

In order to be a successful business professional, you are required to have many skills, including the ability to use computer and network-based systems. Earning your business degree online will not only give you a strong foundation in the basics of business, but will provide you with a confidence and skill in using computers that will elevate your potential higher than you ever imagined. There are many valuable degrees and certificate you can earn by studying for your business degree online. Every degree level is available in several different fields of business. Some of these fields include Management, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, and International Business.

There are many advantages to earning a Business degree online. Proximity is not a factor in choosing the right college or University for you. Attending classes and submitting coursework online eliminates the need for commuting or relocating, so you can keep working while you attend school. Convenience is another factor in earning a college degree online. A college may be able to offer many convenient sections of certain courses, allowing you more choices as to when to attend classes. Night and weekend sections of courses are usually offered as well, which is ideal for you if you work full time and/or care for a family. Further, if you are considering returning to school after several years, seeking your business degree online is a great way to ease into the routine of class work and projects again, and can reduce the pressure of feeling the need to fit in with younger students. In addition, who wouldn’t find it appealing to attend college from the comforts of home?

Whether you are seeking a degree (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or a graduate degree) or if you are seeking certification in a specific skill area, there are several options if you are considering receiving your Business degree online. There are several online-only institutions that are fully accredited and offer many degree and certification programs. Accreditation is an important factor to consider in choosing an online college. If you have previous college credits you would like to transfer, attending an accredited college will be necessary to do that. Also, accreditation is beneficial for having your degree recognized by employers and professional organizations. Online-only colleges offer the benefit of a cutting edge learning format technologically in addition to the same quality education that campus-based degree programs offer, as well as accelerated programs for those who are in a hurry to earn a college degree for professional advancement. And more and more, traditional colleges and Universities are adding online distance learning programs to their curricula, so your options are virtually endless.

If you are worried that you might not be able to afford getting your Business degree online, you have options. Some employers might offer to pay a portion or even all tuition and fees toward an employee receiving a degree. Also, financial aid in the form of grants, loans, and even scholarships might be available to you. Check with the particular online program of interest to see what financial options are available, since some colleges might not offer financial aid to students who attend part-time.

You might be concerned that earning your Business degree through an online program won’t provide as enriching an experience as attending a traditional campus-based college or University. Earning your Business degree online can be an experience that is every bit as enriching, interpersonal, and dynamic as attending college the old-fashioned way. Programs offered online present the same opportunities for group work, independent study, and interpersonal communication as do traditional methods of learning. You also still receive the same detail-oriented training as you would attending a face-to-face program. In fact, attending college online helps to facilitate the independent learning process, as well as developing time management skills. Attending college online takes just as much commitment as the old-fashioned way of going to school. Going online to earn your Business degree is a legitimate, convenient, and flexible way for you to advance your education, as well as your career and personal potential.

While each core curriculum will differ from school to school, most business degrees and programs include courses in all relevant aspects of business. These courses are designed to give you the knowledge needed to be successful in the business field.

Some schools also give you the freedom to choose your own curriculum. This means that you can decide which areas of business you want to gain expertise in. The ability to design your own curriculum gives you a unique educational background that allows you to stand out from the competition and attracts potential employers. Some concentrations for online business degrees include Accounting, e-Commerce, Business Information Systems, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, and Project Management.

By concentrating your business degree curriculum in Accounting, you will gain the knowledge necessary to obtain a career in this field. This includes learning the basics of Accounting, as well as how to record financial transactions, prepare financial statements, accounts payable and receivable, examine financial statements and maintain a ledger.

E-Commerce is the buying and selling of goods and services over different electronic processes, such as the internet. By concentrating on e-commerce for your online business degree you will learn about electronic funds transfer, inventory management, the internet, internet marketing, electronic data interchange, how to use technology to enhance your business, and much more.

Business Information Systems is defined by the International Journal of Business Information Systems as “a system which integrates information technology, people and business. BIS brings business functions and information modules together for establishing effective communication channels which are useful for making timely and accurate decisions.” In other words, Business Information Systems professionals work to enhance the use of technology in their organizations and manage the day to day operations of these systems. Students getting their online business degrees with a concentration in BIS learn about business analysis, research methods, how to use technology to make business decisions, and how to manage information systems.

A concentration in Finance will help you understand how to manage money, risks, and assets. Courses include Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Foundations of Finance, Financial Markets, Investments, and Risk Management. These courses will teach you about the different financial markets, how to make good investments, managing finances, and about fiscal policies. Business degrees with a concentration in Finance are good educational backgrounds for those pursuing employment with banks, insurance companies, and investment firms.

Human Resources is a popular concentration for many people getting their business degrees. Human Resources departments in many organizations exist to hire, train, evaluate, promote and compensate employees. By taking courses in Human Resources, you will learn about human resources management, how to recruit new employees, the law, the different principles of the field, and different issues people in the field face.

International Business relates to the operations of multinational corporations. These companies do business in all different areas, including food, electronics, energy, and vehicle manufacturing. By complimenting your business degree with a concentration in International Business, you will be learning about the legal and political systems of different countries, foreign economies, international culture, and regulations on labor, trade, and the environment. People pursuing their business degrees in International Business can expect to be hired by multinational corporations like McDonalds, General Motors, Sony, and ExxonMobil, to name a few.

Product Development deals with creating and promoting new products. All companies that produce goods and services have Product Development Specialists whose sole purpose is to create and market products. People who study Product Development for their online business degrees learn about marketing, e-business, concept development, market testing, and commercialization.

These are just a few examples of the areas of business that you can study for your online business degree. All of the courses in these fields will provide you with the skills you need to be a successful business person.

Every person on the face of the earth has different capacities and talents, explaining why a big range of methods is employed in the classroom to try and encourage people to learn. However, who is to assert that the thinking behind this theory cannot be applied to techniques of learning as well as methods? In reality, it’s been applied to ways of learning with the invention of internet schools and schools.

Instead of forcing an individual to sit in class each day and learn, any individual can now sit at home and learn however he wants and whenever she or she or he or she wants. As far as personal choice winds easily, but when you observe the benefits and blessings of offline education you see that the contest between the two is not quite as clear cut!

Many traditionalists will dismiss online degrees and school courses as a waste of time because they only accept the dregs of society who could not get into another instructional program. There are released essays and articles broadcast to that effect. Indeed that is not the case. In reality, online education leaves education open to people who could have gone if they were given the break.

They are no kind of smart than individuals attending a campus varsity, and there has basically been research to prove that online schools could actually be better for an individual’ health than those individual students have to attend each day!

Drexel School studied online students in the course of their research and really compared them. The results were highly engaging because individuals taking online degrees actually appeared to be far happier than those attending on campus degree courses. In fact, the lifestyles of the two sets of folk were very different and recommended that a web degree is better for the mental well being of students.

The workload is approximately the same, but online students did not seem to stretch themselves too far, leaving equal time for all of their commitments and juggling well. On the other hand, campus students were finding it tough to cope with the demands of going to university. The tutors might be there to remind students of deadlines, but it was found that they were putting too much pressure on the individual student and essentially dictating priorities in some cases rather than giving an individual the chance to determine his or her own priorities.

Drexel revealed that there was more pleasure in taking a web degree than a campus one and, as a result, individuals were learning more, stressing less and generally enjoying themselves instead of panicking themselves into a frenzy! Offline scholars seldom change their lifestyle to house the tutorial addition, whereas campus scholars change their priorities and lifestyle totally to permit their degree to take over their lives.

That is not to claim though that campus degrees do not have their advantages over online degrees because they do. Firstly, the full varsity experience is not necessarily widely available if you complete a degree on the internet. It can be a nightmare attempting to fit your degree into your life, not to mention visit the school itself, and if it operates only online then you cannot attend in person anyway. The experience is an once in an entire life opportunity. However, if there are more things going on in your life then it could be an expendable one.

The one problem that this may lead to online students is in terms of assignment help. It might not be likely for individuals to communicate with each other to offer or ask for help when mandatory. In truth, an offline student would be contingent on a forum or other sort of communication network in which others may not respond. If that were the case, then it might be up to the individual student to try and find the answers themselves! That is not to assert that one is much the other, but returning to the first paragraph, one will suit you more than the other!

You know you want to enter the fast-paced world of business, so you’ve decided to enroll in an online business degree program. It’s certainly a step in the right direction, but if you haven’t checked out the various online programs available lately, you may be surprised by the many choices now available. It’s certainly a good thing to have so many choices, but it can also be daunting.

The reason so many cyber-schools are now offering a variety of different degrees in their online business degree programs is because there is so much diversity not only in what companies are looking for, but in they type of students that are enrolling in the programs. Businesses are becoming more and more complex, and more specialized every year and colleges and universities are meeting the need by developing specialized programs that address the needs of particular business models and types of industries.

Online Business Degree Programs Are Becoming More Specialized

If you aren’t sure what industry or type of business you eventually want to settle into, a business administration degree may be the right approach. You can get a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree and even a Master’s Degree in this area, which offers classes in everything from finance and marketing to leadership and management. On the other hand, if you know that you want to go into either a specific division or type of management (human resources, for instance), you can enter a more specialized online business degree program in order to obtain an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management.

Some of the most popular business degrees in today’s corporate marketplace include:

Accounting Degrees

These can range from Associate’s Degrees to Bachelor’s Degrees and beyond. You can also get a broad-spectrum degree, such as Private Sector Accounting, or become an Accounting Specialist by taking more advanced courses to add to your expertise.

Administrative Office Management

This is a great online business degree program for anyone who wants to become an office manager. Learning all of the ins and outs of spreadsheets, graphics, accounting basics and everything else needed to organize and communicate information clearly is the core of these programs.

Healthcare Reimbursement

This is one of the fastest growing and most specialized business programs you can major in, and the demand for individuals with this type of training will continue to be strong in the foreseeable future. As insurance plans become more complex, the coding systems and reimbursement paperwork becomes more complex as well. Insurance companies, hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices are all looking for qualified experts in the healthcare reimbursement field.

Human Resources Management

With increasing competition for employees in every business sector, qualified human resources specialists are in demand to help companies recruit, train and retain the most qualified candidates. A degree in this specialized business area will also prepare you to handle workplace ethics situations, contract negotiations, grievances and dismissal policies.

Network Management

This is an online business degree program that builds on computer networking to cover various aspects of network systems management for larger companies.

Many colleges and universities now offer a dozen or more ways to get a degree, whether an Associate’s, Bachelor’s or Master’s, that will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to get ahead in the private business or public service sector. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that “a business degree is just a business degree.” Instead, take a look at the wide variety of specializations now available to find the one that’s just the right fit for your goals. Since an online business degree program can be studied at your own pace while you are working, it’s one of the best and most efficient ways to invest in your career.

If you want to get a better job where you can make more money and have more room for growth you should get a Business degree online. Having a business degree will open a lot of doors for you professionally and you will be able to achieve greater professional success if you have a business degree. Worried about the cost of getting a business degree? Don’t be. If you get a Business degree online you can save a lot of money compared to getting a Business degree from a traditional four year school. Often you can get a Business degree online in less than four years depending on how fast you move through the coursework and how committed you are to finishing. Since you can work at your own pace when you are getting a Business degree online you can get your Business degree quickly if you learn fast. Working at your own pace means that you will always have fun and interesting work to do and you won’t be held back because not everyone is learning as quickly as you. If you don’t learn fast and struggle with a particular course then you can slow down and take as much time as you need to take in order to make sure that you understand the material. If you were to get a Business degree at a traditional school you wouldn’t be able to take extra time if you needed it, which is just one more reason that it makes sense to get a Business Degree online instead of getting one from a traditional college or university.

If the company that you work for offers educational benefits you should see if you can tuition assistance or if you can get reimbursed for your tuition costs when you go for a Business degree online. Even if your company doesn’t offer a standard educational benefits package you might be able to convince your boss that the business will benefit from you have a Business degree. If your company doesn’t offer education benefits you should schedule a meeting with your boss to pitch the idea of tuition assistance to him. When you are meeting your boss make sure that you point out all the benefits that the company will get if you get a Business degree online and how much it will benefit the company if you continue your business education. You might be able to convince your boss to split the cost of tuition with you or even to pay for the whole Business degree if you promise to stay with the company that you’re at for a certain number of years. Many employers now offer tuition assistance or tuition reimbursement to their employees because they know that it’s more cost effective for them to keep their educated and experienced employees rather than have to hire and train new employees if their employees decide to leave and go to another company that will help them pay for more education. Getting a Business degree online can give you a lot more leverage and help you earn more money over the course of your career.

If you find the world of business fascinating and inspiring, a degree in Business Administration might be just the thing for you. But what degrees are available? What is the best program for you? Here is a breakdown of all the business degrees currently available.

Business Diploma and Certificate Programs

A Business certificate is a six to twelve month program that provides training in business fundamentals. Earning this certificate may lead to promotional opportunities as well as entry-level employment in business, industry and non-profit organizations. Business students may choose to opt for general management courses or specialize in human resource management, finance, global leadership or marketing.

Business diploma and certificate programs offer aspiring business majors a chance to earn an undergraduate diploma or certificate in a short period of time. Coursework is often accelerated, allowing students to learn a great deal in a one or two semester time frame. Programs can usually be taken online or at an institution of higher learning, and can focus on anything from general business to accounting to some other specialization.

Associate’s Degree in Business Administration

An associate degree is an academic degree awarded by community colleges, junior colleges, business colleges and some bachelor’s degree-granting colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study usually lasting two years.

Associate degree programs are generally two-year programs offered by technical institutes or community colleges. They are designed to give students a general education in business, or to prepare university-bound students for the eventual completion of a bachelor’s degree in business. The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in business, the Associate of Business Administration (ABA), and the Associate of Arts in Business Administration (AABA) are typical degrees.

Bachelor of Business Administration

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a bachelor’s degree in business studies. In most universities, the degree is conferred upon a student after four years of full-time study (120 credit hours) in one or more areas of business concentrations. The BBA program usually includes general business courses and advanced courses for specific concentrations. BBA programs expose students to a variety of subjects: accounting, business law and ethics, economics, finance, management information systems, marketing, operations management, organizational behavior and management, statistics, and strategy.

Most Bachelor of Business Administration programs allow students to specialize or concentrate in a particular academic area as follows:

Accounting

Entrepreneurship

Finance

Management

Management information system

Marketing

Operations management

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a master’s degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines.
The MBA is one of the most sought-after degree in business administration, and there are many different types of MBA programs. Here is an outline of the MBA programs currently available:

Full-time MBA programs are the most common, normally lasting two years. Students enter with a reasonable amount of prior real-world work experience and take classes during weekdays like other university students.

Accelerated MBA programs are a variation of full time programs, lasting 18 months or less, involving a higher course load.

Part-time MBA programs normally hold classes on weekday evenings, after normal working hours. Part-time programs normally last three years or more. The students in these programs typically consist of working professionals, who take a light course load for a longer period of time until the graduation requirements are met.

Executive MBA (EMBA) programs developed to meet the educational needs of managers and executives, allowing students to earn an MBA or another business-related graduate degree in two years or less while working full time. Participants come from every type and size of organization – profit, nonprofit, government — representing a variety of industries. EMBA students typically have a higher level of work experience, often 10 years or more, compared to other MBA students. In response to the increasing number of EMBA programs offered, The Executive MBA Council was formed in 1981 to advance executive education.

Distance learning MBA programs hold classes off-campus, usually online.

Doctorate of Business Administration

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is similar to a PhD. program, but unlike a traditional PhD., it is intended to equip you as a business executive with research tools, rather than train you as a professional researcher (there is also a more traditional PhD program available in business administration, but the focus on this degree is university research and teaching). With a DBA, you will acquire a combination of business and research skills for analyzing business and corporate operations. This unique perspective—as both a business manager and a business researcher—will make you invaluable in the corporate world.

Traditionally, the DBA program features a curriculum that focuses on practical business concepts and active research rather than a purely theoretical approach to research. The DBA is often referred to as a professional research doctorate. The DBA degree may have a specialization such as management science, technology management, organizational behavior, economics, or finance. Many business schools offer both DBA and Ph.D. programs in various fields. The DBA is sometimes virtually identical to the Ph.D. in Business Administration. However, a DBA tends to focus on contemporary and practical business issues as opposed to theoretical research, although some DBAs make significant contributions to both theory and practice.

This highly advanced business degree provides candidates with a mastery of business administration literature, and teaches how to apply this knowledge to current business environments. As the global information economy evolves, organizations are becoming increasingly complex, and innovative organizational models and practices have become crucial to successfully addressing this complexity. Consequently, leadership in this environment requires higher, more sophisticated levels of knowledge and skills. The DBA program is designed to serve this need by providing doctoral-level education to professional practitioners in business and management.

Careers in business are just as varied as the choices available for online business degrees. A number of accredited colleges are now offering business degrees though online classes rather than traditional in-person learning.

Just like with on-campus courses, online business degrees can provide students with analytical and critical thinking skills, communication techniques, the ability to solve problems and make thought-out decisions. All of these skills are desired by employers, and will give students the ability to compete in the business or commercial world.

A Master of Business Administration degree (also called an MBA) is the most common certification that students are looking for. But there are other options, such as an Associate degree in Business Administration, or even a Bachelor’s level degree.

You can begin a career in business management with either an Associate or Bachelor’s degree, as either one will make a big difference when trying for that first entry-level job. From there, you can work towards more advancement opportunities within the company. A Masters will help make this process go quicker and likely provide more options for you in the business world.

The number of possible careers available to someone with a business degree is long and varied:

Insurance underwriter

Investment banker

Marketing executive

Human resource officer

Auditor

Banker

Operations manager

and many more
